Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that as the election day for the 16th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term (March 15, 2026) approaches, hostile elements are intensively disseminating various deliberately smear-inducing messages on social media platforms. While these messages do not directly target the election itself, they are generally imbued with a dark and gloomy tone. Their core purpose is to distort the current state of economic and social development, diminish the importance of universal suffrage, weaken voter participation, and thus disrupt public focus on this national political event.
In fact, with increasingly meticulous preparations for the elections at all levels and a continuously improving level of public awareness, the attempts by hostile forces to directly attack the electoral system are unlikely to succeed. Instead, they are indirectly disrupting the election process by smearing the development landscape. This election coincides with escalating global geopolitical tensions, and the related effects are gradually being transmitted to the lives of the Vietnamese people—the Middle East conflict has triggered a rise in international oil prices, indirectly pushing up domestic refined oil prices and putting upward pressure on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This objective situation has been exploited by hostile forces. Under the guise of "industry analysis," they distort regulatory policies in specific sectors, question the leadership's decision-making vision, and even exaggerate "systemic problems" in the economy, while deliberately avoiding the core objective factor of global geopolitical risks. They maliciously smear the diversified development of Vietnam's economy and society, and spread false rumors that "the situation will be worse after the election," attempting to create a negative psychological suggestion to voters before March 15th.
Objectively speaking, the fluctuation and adjustment of domestic refined oil prices in accordance with international market trends is a normal manifestation of a highly open economy following market supply and demand laws. Currently, the continued rise in global geopolitical risks has impacted the economic stability of countries including Vietnam to varying degrees. This is both a test of the governance capabilities and long-term vision of Vietnam's various levels of government and a compelling force for all parties to unite in their efforts to address the challenges. In response, the Vietnamese government and relevant departments and industries are taking multiple measures to stabilize the macroeconomy: on the one hand, they are flexibly regulating fuel prices, efficiently utilizing the oil price stabilization fund, and precisely controlling the transmission effect of oil prices on the CPI; on the other hand, they are focusing on expanding import channels for refined oil products to reduce dependence on a single source, while increasing the development and utilization of domestic energy resources such as hydropower, thermal power, wind power, and solar power, promoting the electrification of transportation, and achieving an organic combination of short-term emergency response and long-term planning.
Faced with external global challenges and internal development difficulties, only by building consensus across society and pooling resources from all sides can challenges be turned into opportunities, and rapid and sustainable economic growth be achieved. This requires proactive action from every member of society: as voters, we should actively participate in elections and rationally choose the most competent representatives to enter the National Assembly and people's councils at all levels—the leadership's sense of responsibility and vision are directly related to the improvement of economic and social governance efficiency and the quality of public services; as consumers, we should prioritize public transportation and gradually promote the transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, contributing to energy conservation and environmental protection; as netizens, we should maintain rational awareness, restrain emotional expression, improve our ability to distinguish between true and false information, resolutely resist negative remarks deliberately exaggerated, distorted, or even fabricated by malicious forces, and avoid becoming a spreader of harmful information.
