Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On December 29th, Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, met with Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), in Hanoi.
Tran Quang Phuong emphasized that the National Assembly of Vietnam highly appreciates Martin Chungong's strong support for Vietnam's successful hosting of several important and far-reaching IPU activities, including the 2018 Sustainable Development Goals Conference and the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in 2023. The National Assembly of Vietnam has always considered active and responsible participation in IPU activities as one of its core tasks and hopes to continue to receive the care, support, and cooperation of IUU Secretary General Martin Chungong, the IU, and its Secretariat to further strengthen the efficient, reliable, and pragmatic cooperative relationship between the IPU and the National Assembly of Vietnam, thereby making a tangible contribution to achieving common goals.
Tran Quang Phuong believes that Martin Thuan Gun, with his enthusiasm, experience, and strategic vision, has helped enhance the role, status, and voice of parliaments and members of parliament (including young and female members) on the international stage, contributing to the IPU's shared goals of peace, democracy, prosperity, and sustainable development for all countries and peoples worldwide.
Martin Thuan Gun thanked the Vietnamese National Assembly for its consistent cooperation with the IPU in successfully implementing various priority programs, strategies, and activities.
Martin Thuan Gun emphasized that he will continue to support and assist the Vietnamese National Assembly in participating in multilateral parliamentary diplomacy, increasing the application of science and technology, and playing a more active role and making greater contributions to the IPU.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen coordination to promote the continued deepening and solidification of the IPU-Vietnam cooperative relationship. (End)
