Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the evening of December 9th, the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Organizations Union and the Consulate General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City jointly held an event to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 – December 2, 2025).

Cuban Vice Minister of Agriculture Terce Abdul González Moreira, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, and representatives of southern Vietnamese local leaders, including Vu Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, and Pham Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, attended the event.

Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ariadne Fior Lafrada, delivered a speech at the event, thanking the Vietnamese people, especially Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces, for their support. She specifically mentioned the assistance provided by the Vietnam Red Cross's national projects and the "Sun Without Borders" program of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, while also paying tribute to the leaders, businesses, and people of both countries throughout history, and thanking all parties for their contributions to cultivating the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 65 years.

Vu Van Minh, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, stated that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba in 1960 was a significant milestone in the history of national development for both countries, symbolizing a steadfast friendship that transcends time and space. Against the backdrop of peaceful cooperation and development, this special traditional friendship is being continuously consolidated and elevated to new heights by the two parties, the two countries, and the people.

Vu Van Minh emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City is willing to uphold empathy and international responsibility, sharing experiences and deepening cooperation with Cuba in advantageous areas such as economic trade, high-tech agriculture, industry-academia-research collaboration, education and training, healthcare, and digital transformation. At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City will attach importance to people-to-people exchanges and business partnerships, expanding cooperation in youth, culture, and tourism, using these sustainable bridges to enhance mutual understanding and trust, and achieve long-term, stable, and common development.

At the event, the "Sun Without Borders" fundraising committee, comprised of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association and several local newspapers, symbolically handed over 15 solar energy systems to Ariadne Fior Lafrada, the Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City. These systems will be installed in primary schools throughout Cuba, contributing to the improvement of local educational infrastructure. (End)
