Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Several Vietnamese airlines recently received notifications from aircraft manufacturer Airbus and civil aviation regulatory agencies requiring them to implement software or hardware updates for their Airbus A320/A321 aircraft. This update is a mandatory safety measure, requiring relevant airlines to complete it by 6:59 AM Vietnam time on November 30th (11:59 PM UTC on November 29th) to ensure operational safety. Airlines responded quickly, and flight operations are currently generally stable.
Vietnam Airlines, upon receiving the notification, immediately initiated work at its technical bases at Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat airports. The company has prepared all the update tools, guidelines, and software provided by Airbus and began full-scale upgrades from the early morning of November 29th, with each aircraft update taking approximately one hour, striving to ensure completion within the deadline.
Vietjet Air also received update requirements from Airbus, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. As a safety measure required by the emergency airworthiness directive, the company immediately activated its technical contingency plan, mobilizing teams from its technical bases in Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang, and overseas to simultaneously upgrade their fleets. As of the morning of November 29, 45 of its 69 affected aircraft had completed the upgrades, and the remaining work is being expedited to meet the deadline.
Vietjet stated explicitly that flight operations after November 29 and 30 were unaffected, and passenger journeys proceeded normally. The company prioritizes safety, relying on its professional team and emergency response capabilities to ensure smooth flight operations.
Bamboo Airways completed a full fleet check in the early morning of November 29, confirming that all its current A320/A321 aircraft were not included in this upgrade, and its Airbus and Boeing flights are operating normally as scheduled.
