Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 23, 2025, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam, and the Hanoi People's Committee jointly held a "Vietnam-U.S. Friendship Exchange" event in Hanoi as part of a series of important activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1995-2025).
In his speech, Dong Hue Cang, Vice Chairman of VUFO, stated that Vietnam-U.S. relations are a model of reconciliation and cooperation between nations. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties on July 12, 1995, both sides have upheld the spirit of "setting aside the past, transcending differences, and looking to the future," promoting leapfrog development in relations—upgrading to a "comprehensive partnership" in 2013, and further enhancing it to a "comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development" in September 2023. He thanked various sectors in the United States for their support in Vietnam's post-war recovery and economic development, emphasizing the crucial role played by VUFO and Vietnam-U.S. associations at all levels in promoting friendship between the two peoples.

U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Napper stated that the event showcased the dynamism and partnership of the Vietnam-U.S. relationship, both reviewing past achievements and encouraging the younger generation to deepen future cooperation. He mentioned the important role of U.S. companies in bilateral cooperation, noting that both sides are working together to advance cooperation in education, healthcare, the economy, and other fields.
The exchange activities were rich in content, encompassing cultural performances, sports activities, traditional games, as well as displays of both countries' cultures and cuisines, and exhibitions of diplomatic achievements. It also introduced cooperative projects between institutions and enterprises from both sides, aiming to enhance mutual trust and understanding.

It is understood that the Vietnam-U.S. relationship has yielded fruitful results in the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations: Economically, the U.S. has become Vietnam's largest export market, with bilateral trade expected to exceed $132 billion in 2024, more than 250 times the initial level of diplomatic relations. U.S. companies such as Google and Microsoft have established a strong presence in Vietnam. In the political and security fields, both sides have deepened cooperation through high-level interactions, jointly addressing global and regional issues. In education and culture, Vietnam has the largest number of ASEAN students studying in the U.S., with approximately 30,000 Vietnamese students currently pursuing advanced studies, and U.S. universities are actively recruiting new students.
