Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – During his visit to South Africa for the G20 Summit and bilateral activities, on the afternoon of November 21st local time, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with his wife Le Thi Bich Trinh and a high-level Vietnamese delegation, met with officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa and representatives of the Vietnamese community in South Africa in Pretoria.
The Vietnamese community felt honored and proud of the Prime Minister's visit and were pleased with the significant progress made in bilateral relations. They hoped the Vietnamese government would guarantee the legal status of Vietnamese residents in South Africa and create convenient visa and employment policies; provide convenient online public services for overseas Vietnamese; organize community activities; teach Vietnamese to children both online and offline to preserve and pass on the national cultural characteristics; and pay attention to community affairs in remote and disadvantaged areas.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, extended warm greetings, sincere care, and best wishes from the motherland to the Vietnamese community. The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam and South Africa enjoy a long-standing and solid traditional friendship, and bilateral relations are developing rapidly. South Africa has become Vietnam's largest trading partner and export market in Africa. However, there is still vast potential for cooperation between the two countries. Both sides should promote a deeper, more pragmatic, and more efficient development of bilateral relations to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
During this visit, the leaders of both countries unanimously agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and investment in key areas such as agriculture, mining, clean energy, and oil extraction and refining, and to promote cooperation in bilateral trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Pham Minh Chinh briefed the overseas Vietnamese on the overall situation of the country, pointing out that the Party and the State have always paid close attention to overseas Vietnamese, regarding them as an inseparable part of the various ethnic groups in Vietnam.
In recent years, several policies concerning overseas Vietnamese have been detailed in various laws, such as the Land Law, the Identity Card Law, the Real Estate Management Law, the Law on Amendments and Supplements to Several Articles of the Vietnamese Nationality Law, and the Science and Technology Law. The newly introduced policies aim to provide more convenience for overseas Vietnamese to return to Vietnam to live, work, study, and conduct scientific research, creating conditions for them to utilize their talents.
The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies, and representative offices to continue their work in protecting citizens, taking a more proactive, innovative, and decisive approach. Staff should make every effort to implement these directives, especially by frequently listening to the opinions of overseas Chinese and providing round-the-clock service through the most convenient channels and methods, providing timely support and assistance, particularly when overseas Chinese encounter difficulties or crises.
