Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Following the severe damage caused by Typhoons Fengshen and Haikou in succession, the United States announced $500,000 in emergency aid to Vietnam. This follows a similar amount of aid provided by the U.S. in October.
According to a statement released by the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, the U.S. is highly concerned about the damage caused by Typhoons Fengshen (No. 12) and Haikou (No. 13) and the severe challenges faced by the local population. The U.S. stated its full support for Vietnam-led disaster relief and reconstruction efforts.
To address the cumulative effects of the consecutive typhoons, this aid will focus on assisting the most severely affected families and communities, meeting their basic needs such as temporary shelter and drinking water.
This $500,000 aid aims to provide emergency support to affected families and individuals, while also enhancing the effectiveness of the Vietnamese government-led disaster relief efforts. This aid also follows the $500,000 support provided by the U.S. in October, reflecting the U.S.'s continued concern for Vietnam's response to the consecutive typhoon disasters.
The U.S. Embassy in Vietnam emphasized: "This emergency assistance demonstrates the deep friendship between our two peoples and the United States' unwavering commitment to the U.S.-Vietnam relationship. We are willing to work with Vietnam to alleviate disaster relief, effectively respond to the crisis, and jointly build a more resilient future." (End)
