Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that Da Nang, Vietnam, is emerging as a popular new destination for French retirees, thanks to its reasonable cost of living and livable coastal environment.

Da Nang, dubbed the "Miami of Asia," lacks the population density and hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, distinguishing itself with its tranquility. High-quality beaches like My Khe, coastal promenades, and lush surrounding hills create a picturesque landscape, perfectly aligning with the peaceful lifestyle sought by retirees.

Housing costs are one of Da Nang's core attractions. Grazia points out that in the city's coastal or central areas, a one-bedroom apartment rents for approximately €300-600 per month (about US$350-700), and a two-bedroom apartment for approximately €500-900—significantly lower than traditionally popular destinations for Western retirees.

Beyond housing, dining and daily expenses are equally affordable: local pasta and seafood dishes can be enjoyed for just a few euros, and the vegetables, fruits, seafood, and spices available at traditional markets are more competitively priced than in Western cities. Transportation is also convenient, with taxis, motorbikes, and public transport being inexpensive, and most areas accessible by walking or motorbike, offering a flexible and independent lifestyle for retirees.

Grazia magazine commented that the tropical climate, coastal scenery, low cost of living, and relatively comprehensive city services combine to make Da Nang an ideal choice for a growing number of French retirees seeking a change in their living environment. (End)
