
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Koh Samui has won the 2024 Best Island Destination Award from Asia's leading travel and lifestyle magazine, *Travel + Leisure*. The Minister of Tourism and Sports conveyed policy directives, requiring efforts to boost domestic tourism while promoting inbound tourism, aiming to achieve the annual target of 3.5 trillion baht.
At the 2024 awards ceremony hosted by *Travel + Leisure*, Koh Samui, Thailand, won the highest award in island tourism. Other Koh Samui winners included: Cape Faenza Koh Samui Hotel (second place in the hotel category), Six Senses Koh Samui or Spa Hotel (ninth place), and Koh Samui Airport (fourth place).
The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sengsak, recently issued instructions to push Thailand towards the 3.5 trillion baht target, expressing hope that the remaining 2.4 trillion baht revenue target could be successfully achieved in the remaining six months of this year. It is understood that, driven by a significant 15 million inbound tourists and a steady recovery in domestic tourism, the current total tourism revenue is 1.1 trillion baht.
To support the tourism economic development plan, the cabinet recently approved a tax credit policy for spending in 55 tourist cities, hoping to maintain the popularity of domestic tourism in Thailand during the off-season.
