Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the 13th, Xiamen City held a press conference to announce the Xiamen Metro's "Early Morning and Late Night Special Discount" policy.

The policy specifically includes "free rides during weekday mornings and evenings," meaning passengers can enjoy free rides on all Xiamen Metro lines before 6:30 AM and after 10:30 PM on weekdays. Eligibility for free rides is based on the time recorded by the station gates.

"The city's 24/7 operation relies on a large number of dedicated workers. They are medical staff and sanitation workers who get up early, and teachers, service industry workers, and logistics personnel who are still busy late at night..." said Fei Wei, Deputy Director of the Xiamen Municipal Development and Reform Commission. She added that the policy aims to provide tangible travel support for these workers who remain at their posts before dawn and after dusk.

Fei Wei said that the Xiamen Metro's "Early Morning and Late Night Special Discount" policy is a concrete measure taken by the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and Government to prioritize people's livelihoods and pay tribute to those who strive for success. “We expect to achieve multiple benefits: directly reducing commuting costs for relevant groups and enhancing their sense of gain and belonging; and further fostering a positive atmosphere of ‘labor is glorious, and struggle is valuable’ throughout society.”

It is reported that on November 1, 2023, the Xiamen Metro network comprehensively adjusted its operating hours, with the first train arriving 30 minutes earlier and the last train arriving 30 minutes later, achieving a new operating period of “6:00 AM to 11:00 PM,” effectively addressing the morning and evening commuting needs of some citizens. As an upgraded version of the previous “6:00 AM to 11:00 PM” operating period, the “early departure and late return special discount” policy will be officially implemented from February 24, 2026.

In addition, Xiamen Metro will continue to retain the “long-distance commuter ticket discount,” meaning the original 60 yuan for 15-trip ticket package will be reduced to as low as 4 yuan per trip, providing a more cost-effective option for passengers commuting across districts and traveling long distances.
