Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – “Taiwan boasts numerous Bao Gong temples but lacks a systematic academic research platform, while the mainland retains rich material resources and profound cultural heritage related to Bao Gong. This is precisely the important foundation for cross-strait cultural complementarity and deepened exchanges,” said Qin Peiyun, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Bao Gong Culture Research and Development Association, in Hefei, Anhui Province on the 7th.
On the same day, a 30-member delegation, jointly organized by the Taiwan Anhui Association and the Taiwan Bao Gong Culture Research and Development Association, arrived in Anhui Province for a week-long visit and exchange activity. The delegation's first stop was Bao Gong Park in Hefei, where they followed historical footsteps to explore the roots and inheritance of Bao Gong culture.
Bao Zheng, a famous upright official of the Northern Song Dynasty, is revered as “Bao Qingtian” (Bao the Upright) by later generations for his incorruptible, impartial, and incorruptible character. Hefei, as his hometown, carries a profound cultural heritage of Bao Gong. In the 1990s, the Taiwanese television series “Bao Qingtian” became a sensation across the Taiwan Strait, sparking a “Bao Qingtian craze” and becoming a shared cultural memory for people on both sides.
According to Qin Peijun, the Taiwan Bao Gong Culture Research and Development Association's core mission is to inherit the spirit of Bao Gong, promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and deepen historical research and cultural exchange. "We hope to attract more young people from Taiwan to the mainland through people-to-people exchanges, experience the charm of Chinese culture, and enhance mutual understanding and emotional connection between compatriots on both sides of the strait."
The delegation was led by Sun Naihui, Chairman of the Taoyuan City Anhui Association. Originally from Fengyang, Anhui, he has led delegations to Anhui on numerous occasions. "Bao Gong is a shared spiritual symbol of the Chinese nation and a shared cultural treasure of compatriots on both sides of the strait," said Sun Naihui. He added that Bao Zheng's core qualities of integrity, impartiality, and keen insight, as well as cultural legacies such as his family precepts and classic plays, have not only influenced the values of generations on both sides of the strait but have also become an important cultural bond maintaining the emotional connection between compatriots on both sides.
During the visit, the delegation members will also visit cultural sites such as Liu Mingchuan's former residence and the Anhui Celebrity Hall, and hold discussions with mainland scholars researching Bao Gong culture. (End)
