Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) - On January 3, 2026, the Emergency Management Bureau of Muchuan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, issued a notice: A fire broke out in Mahu Community, Jianban Town, Muchuan County. As of the early morning of the 3rd, the fire had been extinguished, with no casualties or damage to cultural relics. Currently, the public security department has established a cordon, and all affected residents have been safely evacuated and resettled. The cause of the fire is under investigation by relevant departments.

Jianban Ancient Town is located at the junction of Yibin, Muchuan County (city, district) and Qianwei County (county), and is known as "one foot in three counties." It is 42 kilometers east of Muchuan County, nestled against Yujian Mountain and bordering the Longxi River, about 5 kilometers from the Minjiang River. The ancient town has a long history, dating back to the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. It was named "Jianban" (Arrow Board) because of three sections of stone beams in the river resembling bows and arrows, and a hundred-meter-long stone slab on the banks of the Wangye Temple. Its ancient name, "Macaochang" (Horse Grassland), also has a charming flavor. The popular saying, "The towns of Shangzhou are never-ending, and Jianban is never overflowing," testifies to its past prosperity.

Today, the ancient town retains approximately 800 meters of ancient bluestone-paved streets, rows of stilted buildings, and the ruins of Ming and Qing dynasty palaces and temples such as Wanshou Palace and Yuwang Palace. With its unique cultural and natural landscape, Jianban Town's Shunhe Ancient Street has been selected as one of the "Top Ten Most Livable Streets in Sichuan" and included in the "Third Batch of Traditional Villages in China." Jianban Town itself has also joined the ranks of "Sichuan's Tourism and Leisure-Oriented Small Towns."
