Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Guangxi Medicinal Botanical Garden announced on the 17th that the field survey work for the Guangxi Dayaoshan National Nature Reserve plant scientific expedition project, led by the garden, has recently been completed. Through multiple rounds of systematic surveys, technicians have gained a comprehensive understanding of the baseline status of plant resources in the area, resulting in a wide-ranging and data-rich interim report.

This scientific expedition lasted several months and involved a team of 17 professional technicians. The main task of the expedition was to conduct in-depth investigations of vascular plant species in the Dayaoshan area. With the cooperation of professional technicians and local forest rangers, they carried out systematic surveys in various protected areas of the Dayaoshan Mountains.

During the investigation, the team members faced numerous challenges, including treacherous mountain roads, dense forests, and unpredictable weather. However, they consistently upheld the professional spirit of "shouldering the mission, protecting resources, and looking towards the future," persevering despite hardships.

This scientific expedition collected 4,852 plant specimens and 621 DNA samples, systematically recording the current status of plant resources in the Dayaoshan area. This provides reliable data support for the reserve to formulate scientific protection and management measures, conduct biodiversity monitoring and assessment, and promote the sustainable utilization of medicinal plant resources.

Currently, the development of traditional Chinese medicine is at a new historical stage, placing higher demands on the scientific protection and rational utilization of medicinal plant resources. The Dayaoshan area is an important treasure trove of biological resources, and the results of this systematic survey of plant resources are of great significance. They will also provide important scientific support for serving ecological protection, the establishment of the Nanning National Botanical Garden, and the inheritance and innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine.

With the successful completion of the field survey, the expedition team will next systematically organize and scientifically analyze the collected specimens and data to further clarify the baseline of plant resources in the Dayaoshan area, laying a solid foundation for subsequent work on plant diversity protection, restoration of rare species, and construction of ecological security barriers.
