More than 720 schools in Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam, welcome students back after floods.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The heavy rains and floods from November 15th to 21st caused severe damage to Khanh Hoa province, also affecting the education and training sector. As of the morning of November 25th, 726 out of 796 educational institutions in the province had resumed normal classes, while 70 schools remained closed for cleanup and repairs, including 24 kindergartens, 22 primary schools, 15 junior high schools, 7 senior high schools, and 2 vocational secondary schools.

  Preliminary estimates indicate that the Khanh Hoa education sector has suffered economic losses exceeding 32 billion VND, not including textbooks and teaching materials damaged by floodwaters in students' homes.

  Le Dinh Thuan, Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, stated that there have been no casualties so far, and schools are continuing to assess the damage to property and teaching equipment. Some schools that have been secured have begun welcoming students back to school since November 24th.

  Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Ngham Xuan Thanh emphasized that the immediate priority is to get students back to the classroom as soon as possible and adapt to the learning rhythm after a prolonged school closure. At the same time, restoration work must continue to ensure teaching conditions are maintained, especially in areas severely affected by flooding.

  Khanh Hoa province is working to restore normal life for residents, with education being a priority to ensure students can resume their studies as soon as possible. Local governments are providing financial support to students affected by the floods to purchase books and school supplies. Ho Chi Minh City is also providing assistance to Khanh Hoa province to help repair disaster damage, including repairing schools, building canteens, and distributing free medicine. (End)
