Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) November 6th – After 54 days and approximately 10,200 minutes of safety "window" closure for construction, the overhead contact system hot-slip test of the electrification upgrade project of the Jiangda Link Line of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, undertaken by China Railway 25th Bureau Group, was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the electrification operation of the entire line.
As an important component of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway project, the Jiangda Link Line is approximately 3.42 kilometers long and was completed and opened to traffic on October 11, 2023. It is a railway link within the Guangzhou railway hub connecting Jiangcun Station on the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Datian Station on the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway, primarily serving to alleviate traffic congestion on the Guangzhou-Maoming Railway. This will further enhance the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area... The railway corridor's transport capacity and quality were significantly improved with the full-scale electrification upgrade of the Jiangda Link Line, which commenced on September 13th this year.
"Although the entire line is only about 3 kilometers long, this project involves the upgrading of an existing line, encompassing multiple disciplines such as power supply, electrification, communications, and signaling. Construction had to be carried out within limited 'maintenance windows,' and 90% of the line is located on viaducts with sharp curves. It crosses over the Guangzhou-Zhuhai southbound line, the Beijing-Guangzhou Third Line, the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, and the Jiangda Link Line, and passes under the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, among more than 10 other lines. With a huge daily traffic volume, our work is as challenging as walking a tightrope high in the air," explained Feng Xiaotao, the project site manager from China Railway 25th Bureau.
Existing line construction refers to work carried out on lines that are already officially open to traffic. Construction work involves various new constructions, renovations, and repairs on railway lines and related equipment, characterized by high safety risks, complex coordination, high technical standards, and tight construction schedules. Existing line construction is a strength of China Railway 25th Bureau Group. The group has undertaken over 70% of railway station and existing line renovation projects in South China and participated in over 1,000 overpass and underpass projects across the country, possessing extensive experience in existing line construction. During the project construction, the construction team fully leveraged its brand advantage in existing line construction, closely collaborating with the construction unit and railway operation department, continuously optimizing construction plans, strengthening process control, and ensuring seamless workflow, achieving 45 consecutive safety closures with zero failures. The "mistake" created conditions for the successful completion of the overhead contact line hot-slip test.
As a crucial link in the Guangdong Provincial Railway Network Construction and Strengthening Project, the electrification upgrade of the Jiangda Connecting Line successfully cleared the final critical "bottleneck" for passenger trains and high-speed trains to operate on the line. Once fully electrified, this line will become a key channel for high-speed trains from across the country to the Nansha area of Guangzhou. At that time, passenger trains on the Guangmao Railway can directly travel from Jiangcun Station to Baiyun Station and Guangzhou Station via the convenient Jiangda Connecting Line, greatly relieving the pressure on the Guangmao Railway's dual passenger and freight transport capacity. This is of great significance for further optimizing train operations on the Guangzhan High-Speed Railway and the Guangmao and Shenzhen-Zhanjiang lines, and for improving the transportation network of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
