Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment announced on March 31 that the death toll from the floods in the central region of the country has risen to 13, with 34 injured and 11 missing.

According to reports from Vietnam News Network, Reuters, and other media outlets, heavy rainfall over the past week has triggered widespread flooding in central Vietnam, with many areas receiving over 1500 millimeters of rain, resulting in extensive inundation.

Data shows that over 116,000 houses have been flooded, with 56 houses collapsing or being swept away, and nearly 150 houses damaged. The floods have inundated nearly 4,900 hectares of rice paddies and other crops, damaged approximately 790 hectares of fruit trees, and killed over 17,700 head of livestock and poultry. Furthermore, approximately 438,325 households in the four provinces of Hue, Da Nang, Quang Tri, and Lam Dong remain without power.

Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and other media outlets reported that the Vietnam National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Center warned that heavy rainfall is likely to continue, especially in some provinces affected by cold air and easterly winds, where rainfall in some areas may exceed 700 millimeters between October 30 and November 4.

Following the disaster, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a notice requiring all ministries, agencies, and local governments to take immediate and effective action to address the severe flooding, stabilize the lives of local residents, and restore production and business activities in the central region as soon as possible.
