Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government released the "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2026" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") on the 25th, stating that it aims to achieve a 5% increase in the total value of foreign trade imports and exports in 2026.
According to the Plan, in the new year, Inner Mongolia will vigorously develop an open economy, participate more deeply in the Belt and Road Initiative, actively participate in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, and actively integrate into the construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, striving to achieve a 5% increase in the total value of foreign trade imports and exports.
Inner Mongolian economist Gai Zhiyi, in an interview with China News Service, explained that Inner Mongolia's new year goal reflects its commitment to deeply participating in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and is also a pragmatic and achievable objective.
It is reported that Inner Mongolia will add over 3 million tons of major imported products to its processing capacity in 2026; promote the expansion of export business in the Erenhot Mutual Trade Zone; complete and operate the Mandula and Ganqimaodu port mutual trade zones; expand the scale of processing trade in border markets; and promote the construction of Hohhot and Ulanqab as key cities for the China-Europe freight train and the Manzhouli base, improving cargo distribution capacity and return load rate, striving to achieve a port freight volume of 140 million tons.
Gai Zhiyi believes that this signifies Inner Mongolia's transformation from a "transit economy" to a "processing economy," which will inject new momentum into the sustainable development of Inner Mongolia's economy.
Data shows that in 2025, Inner Mongolia's port import and export trade value reached 220.67 billion yuan, with a growth rate exceeding the national average. (End)
