  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that the merged Ninh Binh province, leveraging major sporting events, has promoted the deep integration of sports and tourism by optimizing tourism services and strengthening promotional efforts, injecting strong momentum into regional tourism and socio-economic development. In the first quarter of 2026, the province received 9.9 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 20.9%, with total tourism revenue reaching approximately VND 10.053 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.1%.

  Since 2025, Ninh Binh province has successfully hosted numerous international and national sporting events: internationally, these include the World Triathlon Cup, the AFC Tier 2 League, the ASEAN Football Club Championship, the Southeast Asian Volleyball League, and the Li-Ning Vietnam International Badminton Series; nationally, events include the National Rowing and Canoeing Championships, the Hoa Lu-Binh Dien Volleyball Cup, and the First Division Football League. The Truong An Marathon, in particular, attracted over 10,000 athletes from 15 countries, and its route connects World Heritage sites, effectively promoting Ninh Binh's tourism image. Several foreign athletes expressed their deep impression of Ninh Binh's beautiful scenery after the competition, stating they would return with their families and promote the area.

  Officials from Ninh Binh province stated that sports and tourism complement each other; the event not only attracted participating athletes but also drew a large number of spectators. Leveraging its scenic, climatic, and cultural advantages, the merged province of Ninh Binh is promoting the integrated development of "sports + tourism," collaborating with international sports organizations and increasing global promotion to help Vietnam integrate into the global sports tourism landscape. Currently, the province has established a comprehensive sports tourism product system encompassing event participation, transportation, accommodation, dining, and sightseeing. Moving forward, it will continue to focus on its 2030 vision, developing distinctive sports tourism IPs.

  Data shows that in the first quarter of 2026, Ninh Binh received 8.9 million domestic tourists (a year-on-year increase of 17.7%) and 1 million international tourists (a year-on-year increase of 59.5%), with a significant increase in international tourists.
