Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to the latest report from the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), the number of international tourists worldwide is projected to reach approximately 1.52 billion in 2025, a 4% increase compared to 2024.
The Vietnam National Tourism Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that UN Tourism analysis indicates the global tourism industry's growth momentum in 2025 is primarily driven by sustained high demand, growth in major source markets, and a comprehensive recovery in destinations across the Asia-Pacific region. Furthermore, expanded international air connectivity and increasingly relaxed visa policies in many countries have provided significant impetus for international travel.
The report states that Vietnam has joined the ranks of countries with the highest growth rates globally, achieving double-digit growth. Vietnam's tourism industry continues to achieve remarkable results: international tourist arrivals reached nearly 21.2 million, a 20.4% increase compared to 2024 and a 19% increase compared to 2019. This growth rate is not only impressive but also far exceeds the global tourism industry's average growth rate of 4% and the Asia-Pacific region's growth rate of 6%.
Amidst increasingly fierce global tourism competition, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is guiding localities and businesses to continue focusing on green tourism development, improving service quality, strengthening human resource training, and intensifying marketing efforts. In addition to traditional tourism products, Vietnam will research and develop tourism products that combine cultural values, nature, marine and island resources, and cities, and increase investment in innovative products such as medical tourism, volunteer tourism, environmental tourism, agricultural and rural tourism, film location visits, street music, and culinary tourism. Tourist destinations are updating their products by applying modern technology, developing virtual reality tourism, upgrading automated tour guide systems, and enhancing the visitor experience. (End)
