
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Indonesia, Vietnam Airlines officially launched a direct flight route between Jakarta and Hanoi from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta in the early hours of November 23. This initiative aims to meet the growing travel needs between Vietnam and Indonesia amidst the flourishing cooperative relationship between the two countries.
The inaugural flight, VN634, carrying 131 passengers, departed Jakarta at 1:30 AM local time on November 23 and landed in Hanoi at 5:50 AM, with a flight time of 4 hours and 20 minutes. Previously, flight VN635 from Hanoi to Jakarta departed at 8:15 PM on November 22 and arrived in Jakarta at 12:40 AM on November 23.
The route is operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft with a capacity of 185 passengers. The launch of the direct Jakarta-Hanoi route is expected to boost trade and tourism cooperation between the two countries, while also helping Vietnam Airlines expand its route network in the ASEAN region, enhance its competitiveness, and support the strategy of aligning aviation with national diplomacy.
Tran Tuan Nghia, Vietnam Airlines' Chief Representative in Indonesia, stated that since announcing the launch of the direct route, Vietnam Airlines has focused its efforts on ensuring the best possible service for passengers on the Hanoi-Jakarta flight. The inaugural flight carried over 130 passengers in both directions, demonstrating the significant travel demand between the two countries, particularly between Jakarta and Hanoi. It is anticipated that from April next year, the flight frequency will increase from five to seven flights per week to better meet the travel needs of passengers from both countries.
Made Hardika, Human Resources Director of Gapura Angkasa, Indonesia's largest ground services provider, stated that in recent years, the company has maintained efficient cooperation with Vietnam Airlines at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Denpasar (Bali) Airport. He believes that Vietnam Airlines' continuous expansion of its route network in Indonesia is impressive and effective, and he is confident that Vietnam Airlines will continue to grow and make positive contributions to promoting tourism, economic development, and connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam.
According to Vietnam Airlines, the company currently operates daily round-trip flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta and Bali, while the Jakarta-Hanoi route operates five times a week. (End)
