
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Recently, the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Laos held a national conference on livestock and fisheries work. The conference comprehensively summarized the implementation achievements of the national livestock and fisheries work in 2025, clarified the work direction for 2026, and outlined the five-year development plan for 2026-2030.
The conference was chaired by Bouahhon Khamha, Director of the Department of Livestock and Fisheries. Deputy Directors of the Department, heads of subordinate departments and centers, relevant officials and technical personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment stationed in Vientiane and 17 provinces, as well as representatives of livestock entrepreneurs attended the meeting.
The conference focused on three main areas: summarizing and evaluating the implementation of the 2025 livestock and fisheries development plan, reviewing the 2026 work plan, and the implementation scheme for the five-year plan for 2026-2030.
At the meeting, relevant officials reported on the actual progress of livestock and fisheries work nationwide, the development of characteristic livestock, poultry, and aquaculture industries in various provinces, and the implementation progress of beef cattle breeding quotas. They also reviewed achievements, existing problems, countermeasures, and future development goals. Livestock entrepreneurs shared their industry experience, development advantages, and operational difficulties, and raised relevant requests requiring government coordination.
The meeting also reviewed supply and demand balance plans for meat, eggs, and fish; cost structure accounting methods; veterinary service standards; detailed rules for fisheries and animal feed management; the implementation of relevant laws and regulations on livestock and fisheries; and data collection and reporting standards.
Participants jointly discussed industry development challenges and formulated solutions, clarifying subsequent work indicators and implementation goals for livestock and fisheries. They also incorporated suggestions from various departments and centers, listened to practical opinions from provincial livestock and fisheries departments and frontline personnel, comprehensively analyzed the practical difficulties and causes in the work of the central and local governments, and studied and formulated collaborative solutions.
