
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) According to Announcement No. 047/KPL issued by the Vientiane Capital Election Committee on February 6, 2026, Laos has decided to conduct early elections both domestically and internationally. On the afternoon of February 11, the Lao Embassy in the People's Republic of China officially organized Lao citizens in China to participate in the early voting for representatives to the 10th National Assembly of Laos and the 5th Vientiane Capital Assembly.

This election strictly followed the rules, regulations, and standard procedures established by the Vientiane Capital Election Committee to ensure an orderly, fair, and just process. The candidates included Mr. Sompong Silatchalen, the Lao Ambassador to China, embassy staff, Lao personnel stationed in China, students, and Lao citizens residing and working in Beijing who met the voting qualifications and completed identity verification, totaling 45 people.

During the voting process, all candidates upheld their political responsibility and civic duty, earnestly exercising their democratic right to vote, aiming to elect qualified representatives who can represent the interests of the people and are competent to serve in the central and Vientiane capital legislative bodies. This election is not only an important part of Laos' democratic process, but will also help the country steadily advance its core mission of national protection and development along the development direction set by the 12th National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
