
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Ms. Sunthong Sayacchak, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Member of the National Election Committee, and Deputy Director of the Organizational Structure and Personnel Subcommittee, officially announced the list of candidates for the 10th Lao National Assembly yesterday through a press release. A total of 243 candidates are running, including 66 women, and 175 members of parliament will be elected.
The 175 proposed candidates are comprised of the following: 67 from the central government (18 women); 176 from local governments (48 women); 37 from the 9th National Assembly (15 women); 1 from a state-owned enterprise; and 9 from the private sector (2 women).
The list of candidates was published in accordance with Article 11 of the National People's Congress and Provincial People's Council Election Law (No. 58/NPA) promulgated on June 28, 2024, and Presidential Decree No. 338/PPT (on the announcement of the number of candidates for the 10th National People's Congress and the 5th Provincial People's Council) promulgated on December 30, 2025. It was officially announced after being reviewed and approved by the National Election Commission on January 23, 2026.
The specific candidates and elected seats in each constituency are as follows: Constituency 1 (Vientiane): 25 candidates, 19 elected; Constituency 2 (Phongsaly Province): 10 candidates, 7 elected; Constituency 3 (Luang Namtha Province): 10 candidates, 7 elected; Constituency 4 (Oudomxay Province): 11 candidates, 8 elected; Constituency 5 (Bokeo Province): 10 candidates, 7 elected; Constituency 6 (Luang Prabang Province): 14 candidates, 10 elected; Constituency 7 (Xayaburi Province): 13 candidates, 9 elected; Constituency 8 (Hua Phan Province): 10 candidates, 7 elected; Constituency 9 (Xieng Khouang Province): 10 candidates, 7 elected; Constituency 10 (Vientiane Province): 14 candidates, 10 elected.
In the 11th constituency (Polikamsay Province), 7 out of 10 candidates were elected; in the 12th constituency (Khammouane Province), 10 out of 14 candidates were elected; in the 13th constituency (Savannah Province), 21 out of 28 candidates were elected; in the 14th constituency (Saravanont Province), 10 out of 14 candidates were elected; in the 15th constituency (Champasak Province), 15 out of 20 candidates were elected; in the 16th constituency (Saikong Province), 7 out of 10 candidates were elected; in the 17th constituency (Attapeu Province), 7 out of 10 candidates were elected; and in the 18th constituency (Saysombond Province), 7 out of 10 candidates were elected.
