Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) opened, with the theme "Strengthening the Party's Strong Leadership, Actively Building an Independent Economy, Continuing to Consolidate the People's Democratic System, and Moving Towards Socialism." Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and President of Laos, along with other party and state leaders, veteran revolutionaries, and national heroes, attended the congress. A total of 835 official delegates (including 123 women) represented the 421,865 party members nationwide. The delegates were well-structured, of high quality, and represented all social strata, ethnic groups, genders, and age groups, elected by party organizations at all levels, broadly representing the organizational strength of ministries and local governments across the country.

In his opening address, Thongloun Sisoulith pointed out that this congress was an important political event for the party and the state. Its core tasks included reviewing the implementation of the resolutions of the 11th National Congress, determining the development guidelines and policies for the next five years and the long-term vision, and deepening the implementation of the party's transformation policy. The congress will review and adopt important documents including the third political program (clarifying the national development goals and path by 2055), a draft revision of the Party Constitution, and a draft of the national "15th Five-Year Plan" for socio-economic development. Simultaneously, it will formulate a ten-year development strategy for 2026-2035 and a five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026-2030, further refining the Party's political program. One of the core agenda items is the election of the 12th Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, aiming to demonstrate the Party's unity and cohesion, ensure the continuity of the Party's cause, and build a young, intelligent, loyal, and upright central leadership.

Thongloun Sisoulith expressed high hopes for the delegates, hoping they would uphold their political responsibilities, fully promote democracy, and conduct in-depth discussions to improve various policies, using revolutionary spirit to ensure the congress successfully achieves its established goals.

In his address, he also reviewed the original mission of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party: for seventy years since its founding, the Party has always adhered to a pure ideology, faithfully represented the fundamental interests of the working people of all ethnic groups in Laos, and taken the realization of national independence and prosperity, and the freedom, peace, and happiness of the people as its sole purpose. The Party has always upheld the nature of the national democratic revolution under the leadership of the working class, and clearly defined its ultimate goal as leading the country toward socialism. This is the correct path that the Lao revolution must adhere to.
