Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On Sunday, foreign diplomats stationed in Laos met with Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Somsay Siphandone, and other party and government leaders to congratulate the Lao People's Democratic Republic on its 50th anniversary.

At a gathering held at the Presidential Palace, Malaysian Ambassador to Laos, Edi Irvan Mahmood, as head of the diplomatic corps, delivered a speech congratulating Laos on its upcoming National Day on December 2nd. He stated that since its founding in 1975, Laos, under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, has achieved peace, independence, and development. Over the past 50 years, it has made significant achievements in areas such as human resources, infrastructure, education, and healthcare, while maintaining its unique cultural characteristics. The international community supports Laos's goal of leaving the ranks of least developed countries by 2026, and the diplomatic corps is willing to continue cooperating with Laos to ensure that this transition benefits the Lao people. Mahmood also took the opportunity to congratulate the Lao People's Revolutionary Party on its 70th anniversary.

President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his gratitude for the delegation's congratulations and reiterated his thanks for the long-term support from various countries and international organizations. He pointed out that Laos has achieved leapfrog development from a state of post-war backwardness in the 50 years since its founding, thanks to the leadership of predecessors such as Kaysone Phomvihane and the adherence to a development path suited to the country's national conditions. Thongloun also stated that Laos will continue to participate in international cooperation, promote regional and global peace and development, and extended New Year's greetings to heads of state, heads of government, and people of all countries, wishing for the enduring friendship and cooperation between Laos and all countries in the world.
