Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) 2025 holds extraordinary significance for both Vietnam and Laos. Laos celebrates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane. These important milestones allow the people of both countries to revisit their shared history of struggle and embark on a new stage of development together.

The revolutionary friendship between Vietnam and Laos is rooted in the struggle against colonial rule. Under the leadership of the two political parties, the people of both countries fought side by side and ultimately won national liberation. In 1975, Laos, with the support of Vietnam, achieved revolutionary victory and established the Lao People's Democratic Republic, a vivid testament to the special solidarity between the two countries.

For more than half a century, Vietnam-Laos relations have developed comprehensively within the framework of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, becoming a model of special bilateral solidarity. Politically, high-level visits are frequent, and close coordination is maintained on strategic issues; defense and security cooperation effectively addresses various security challenges, safeguarding border peace and national sovereignty.

Economic cooperation is a crucial cornerstone of Vietnam-Laos relations. Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Laos reached a record high of US$2.25 billion in 2024, and further increased to US$2.56 billion in the first 10 months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 50.4%, steadily progressing towards the goal of exceeding US$10 billion in trade by 2030. Vietnam has 267 investment projects under construction in Laos, with a total registered capital exceeding US$6.2 billion, covering key sectors such as energy and agriculture. In the future, both sides will focus on deepening integration in areas such as the digital economy and green development.

Cooperation in the fields of education and culture has also yielded significant results. In 2025, Vietnam provided more than 1,160 scholarships to Laos, a record high. Cooperation in areas such as talent training and cultural exchanges has become an important bridge for maintaining the friendship between the two countries.

Given the current complex global and regional situation, Vietnam and Laos continue to deepen their strategic cooperation, developing synergistically in areas such as cross-border infrastructure, energy, and tourism, and working closely together within multilateral frameworks such as ASEAN. The "comrade-in-arms" friendship between Vietnam and Laos, which has been refined over the years, is not only a historical legacy, but also a core driving force for the two countries to work together to achieve sustainable development and create a prosperous future.
