Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – In response to the government's healthcare reform strategy aimed at enhancing hospital autonomy and sustainability, Champasak Provincial Hospital is focusing on strengthening its leadership and management capabilities. From October 28th to 31st, the hospital held a special seminar on hospital autonomy to lay a solid foundation for the effective implementation of the fourth phase of healthcare reform (2025-2030).
This seminar attracted 34 hospital directors, medical staff, and managers from hospitals at all levels in Khammouane, Savannakhet, and Champasak provinces. It was chaired by Dr. Khamsin Khoithongkhou, Director of Champasak Provincial Hospital, with Dr. Alphonse Schneider, Senior Hospital Management Expert of the Switzerland-Laos Hospital Project, serving as the training instructor.
The seminar focused on key issues related to hospital autonomy transformation, with the core objectives of "improving the quality of patient care, enhancing public trust in public healthcare services, and guiding the public to prioritize government-operated medical institutions." The training content was both practical and systematic, covering multiple dimensions including hospital self-sufficiency implementation steps, application of professional management tools, construction of a patient-centered nursing model, leadership enhancement, optimization of financial and human resource management, project and change management skills, and core drivers for achieving hospital self-sufficiency.
During the training, participants engaged in in-depth interactive discussions on key issues such as "strengthening leadership and management capabilities, improving team collaboration effectiveness, and integrating management tools into daily operations." They actively explored effective paths to maximize the use of existing resources and build a transparent and sustainable administrative and financial system, accumulating practical insights for hospitals to gradually achieve self-sufficiency.
As an important measure in Laos to promote the transformation of public hospitals into self-managing institutions in accordance with national law, this seminar not only provided a platform for exchange and learning for medical managers in the three provinces but will also further enhance the transparency, accountability, and long-term operational efficiency of the national healthcare system, injecting strong momentum into the implementation of the healthcare reform strategy.
