China and Laos sign Memorandum of Understanding to advance the "Global Security Initiative"

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – China and Laos signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday on jointly promoting cooperation under the “Global Security Initiative,” pledging to accelerate the building of a community with a shared future.

  The document was signed in Beijing following formal talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, who began a three-day visit to China on Wednesday.

  The two foreign ministers exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern.

  Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, highly praised the development of the China-Laos comprehensive strategic partnership.

  He stated that China has always prioritized Laos in its neighborhood diplomacy, advancing China-Laos relations from a strategic perspective of the future and destiny of socialism. China firmly supports Laos in advancing reform and opening up and enhancing its international standing, and is willing to work with Laos to enhance strategic mutual trust, strengthen unity and cooperation, and accelerate the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future.

  Wang Yi stated that China is willing to work with Laos to uphold high-level strategic guidance and strengthen exchanges between the two parties and countries at all levels.

  We should deepen and expand pragmatic cooperation, advance the construction of the China-Laos Economic Corridor, strengthen the comprehensive development of the China-Laos Railway and surrounding areas, and expand cooperation in energy, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.

  We should strengthen bilateral and multilateral law enforcement cooperation and focus on combating cross-border crimes such as telecommunications fraud and gambling.

  China firmly supports ASEAN's unity and independence and is willing to work with Laos and other ASEAN countries to jointly safeguard regional peace, stability, development, and revitalization.

  No matter how the external environment changes, China will always adhere to opening up to the outside world, promoting reform and development through opening up. As comrades and brothers, China warmly welcomes Laos to seize the new opportunities of China's development and work together to advance modernization.

  Thongsavanh congratulated the successful convening of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of China and praised China's significant progress in a complex external environment.
