Cambodia and Laos continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation in combating cross-border crime

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On September 16, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sok Sokha met with Lao Ambassador to Cambodia Buakeo PHUMVONGSAY. During the meeting, the Lao Ambassador expressed his hope that Cambodia and Laos would further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in effectively preventing and combating cross-border crime and drug trafficking.

  The Lao Ambassador pointed out that Cambodia and Laos have maintained a good cooperative relationship in many areas. He believes that under Deputy Prime Minister Sok Sokha's leadership, the Cambodian Ministry of Interior will continue to promote and support regular meetings between the border authorities of the two countries to safeguard the safety, public order, and social security of both peoples.

  He also expressed his expectation that Deputy Prime Minister Sok Sokha will continue to actively participate in promoting bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Laos, especially in promoting trade and tourism, and strengthening the fight against cross-border crime, human trafficking, and drug trafficking, ensuring the safety of residents in border areas, and thus jointly promoting the socio-economic development of both countries.

  During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Sok Sokha congratulated the Lao government and wished it success in hosting the ASEAN Summit and related meetings during its ASEAN chairmanship in 2024. Deputy Prime Minister Sokkha believes that Cambodian-Laos relations and cooperation will be further strengthened and expanded during Ambassador Bouakor's diplomatic mission. He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior will continue to strengthen cooperation with Laos to jointly maintain social security in border areas, especially in combating all cross-border crimes such as human trafficking and drug trafficking.
