Vietnam and Laos promote cooperation in humanities and social sciences research

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that Vietnam and Laos maintain friendly relations and have been interdependent throughout various historical periods, with their friendship deepening and cooperation in various fields continuously expanding. Scientific research cooperation between the two countries has developed steadily, forming a solid foundation for comprehensive cooperation.

  In the humanities and social sciences, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Academy) plays a central role in promoting collaborative research, training and capacity building, policy consultation, and sharing Vietnam's and Laos' overall experience in the development of humanities and social sciences and national development.

  Nguyen Thanh Ha, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, stated that for over 60 years, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences has conducted regular exchange visits with its Lao partners, including the Lao Academy of Economic and Social Sciences and the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, to share theoretical research findings and summarize development practices, providing scientific basis for the planning guidelines and policies of the Vietnamese and Lao Party and State; and strengthening the special friendly and comprehensive cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

  In terms of research cooperation, the Academy and its Lao partner institutions have implemented numerous practical projects serving the lives and socio-economic development of both countries; coordinated and shared experiences in managing and serving research activities; and cultivated high-quality human resources.

  Phan Chi Hieu, President of the Academy, stated that the Academy and its Lao scientific partner institutions highly value research on transnational issues and sustainable development in the border regions between the two countries. These research projects are of strategic significance, not only helping to solve emerging practical problems but also creating conditions for ensuring security, peace, and improving the lives of the people in both countries.

  Phan Chi Hieu indicated that cooperation between the two sides will extend beyond traditional training and research projects to new areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, social equality and human development issues, optimized models for natural resource utilization, and digital resources in economic development, to meet the needs of the times.
