Laos and Singapore sign memorandum of understanding on education and carbon credits.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – During Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone's visit to Singapore on July 9, the two sides jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of education and carbon credits.

  According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Vientiane, the two prime ministers agreed to continue to promote the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two governments by relevant departments, particularly in the areas of politics, trade, investment, healthcare, tourism, energy, mining, and agriculture.

  Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong agreed to assist Laos in conducting human resource training activities and to provide support for Laos in successfully hosting the 2024 ASEAN Summit and related meetings during its 2024 ASEAN chairmanship.

  Laos and Singapore will implement a bilateral consultation mechanism starting in October 2023 to monitor and promote the effective implementation of cooperation agreements between the two countries' senior leaders by relevant departments.

  Currently, bilateral trade between Laos and Singapore exceeds US$182 million, with Lao exports to Singapore exceeding US$96 million and imports from Singapore exceeding US$86 million. Singapore's total investment in Laos has reached US$362 million, encompassing 83 projects. (End)
