Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Recently, the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in Laos officially launched a comprehensive urban water system management project. This project plans to systematically manage approximately 280,000 square meters of water space, aiming to create a safe, ecological, and sustainable urban water environment system.

According to the project负责人 (person in charge), the project covers the No. 4 and No. 5 gullies on the west side of Kapok Avenue, as well as Kapok Lake. Currently, phytoplankton removal has been completed, and heavy machinery is being used for dredging, lakebed leveling, and gravel paving.

The project adopts a composite revetment design of "gentle slope protection + rock foundation stabilization + vegetation greening," and will be complemented by the construction of waterfront walkways, water play areas, and other public facilities, which will significantly enhance the ecological service functions of the waterfront area. The total investment for this project exceeds ten million RMB, and it is estimated to consume 40,000 cubic meters of stone, with a construction period of approximately 12 months.

Water environment management is a comprehensive and systematic project, encompassing ecological restoration, flood control, and pollution control. Given the characteristics of the tropical monsoon climate, the Special Economic Zone has constructed a four-in-one flood control model integrating storage, drainage, diversion, and infiltration, and continues to upgrade its underground drainage network. The newly commissioned Phase II sewage treatment plant has significantly improved sewage treatment efficiency, and treated wastewater will be prioritized for municipal greening irrigation needs.

In the future, the Special Economic Zone will use waterways as its spatial framework, planning and constructing a financial and business district, an eco-residential district, a waterfront leisure district, and a cultural tourism district, making water bodies and wetlands "green arteries" connecting urban functions. With the steady progress of the project, the Lao Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone is exploring an innovative path that integrates ecological governance with urban development, laying a solid foundation for building a green city model that is suitable for business, living, and tourism.
