Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of July 29, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sok Sokha held a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Ariff in Phnom Penh. The two sides focused on transnational crime governance, with a particular emphasis on deepening exchanges regarding combating cybercrime, and reached several consensuses on law enforcement cooperation.
Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Ariff stated that Indonesia will provide specialized cybercrime training for Cambodian police this year, focusing on strengthening Cambodia's professional capabilities in core areas such as forensic technology and financial crime investigation. The training will be flexibly conducted through two models: instruction in Indonesia or sending personnel to Cambodia for training.
Ariff expressed his gratitude for the full cooperation and support of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, and fully affirmed Cambodia's solid achievements in combating transnational crime, expediting the repatriation of Indonesian citizens involved in fraud, and facilitating embassy visits to detainees. He stated that Indonesia will continue to assist Cambodia in improving its relevant legal system and actively promote Cambodia's practical achievements and positive progress in combating cybercrime to the international community.
In response to the increasingly complex new landscape of transnational crime, both sides agreed in principle to establish a special expert working group, draw on the mature Cambodia-South Korea joint law enforcement mechanism, build a regular collaborative case-handling system, and comprehensively enhance the cooperation capacity and governance effectiveness of the two countries in jointly combating transnational crime.
