Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On March 20th, with the overall coordination and full support of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank of Cambodia (ARDB), Cambodia and New Zealand officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in rice trade and investment. This signing is a milestone in agricultural cooperation between the two countries, aiming to deepen practical collaboration, break down trade barriers, and help Cambodian high-quality rice further expand into international markets, especially laying a solid foundation for opening the door to the Oceania market.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by key representatives from multiple parties. Koh Tha, President of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank of Cambodia, His Excellency Lai Chunhua, Chairman of the Cambodian Rice Federation (CRF), and Mr. Kwee Michael, Director of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce Representative Office in New Zealand, attended the ceremony to jointly promote the implementation of the cooperation.

According to this MoU, Cambodia and New Zealand will focus on three core areas of cooperation: establishing a regular market information exchange mechanism to achieve dynamic and precise matching of supply and demand; building a direct communication platform for business leaders and investors to promote deep integration of capital and industry; and constructing an international standard system and brand matrix for Cambodian rice to enhance the international competitiveness of its products. Through these measures, both sides are committed to eliminating trade barriers and accelerating the entry of high-quality Cambodian rice into the New Zealand market.

This cooperation is not only a key step in Cambodia's agricultural globalization strategy, but also demonstrates the shared vision of both countries to deepen their agricultural partnership with mutual benefit and win-win results at its core, injecting new growth momentum into bilateral economic and trade relations.

At the signing ceremony, Governor Koh Tay put forward three clear implementation requirements for all parties involved in the cooperation: First, uphold a professional and responsible spirit, actively attract international capital to focus on Cambodia's agricultural and supporting advantageous industries, and strengthen the core competitiveness of the industry; second, strictly implement the terms of the memorandum of understanding, promote the transformation of cooperation results into substantial economic benefits, and fully showcase Cambodia's high-quality agricultural image to the international market; third, play a bridging role, provide one-stop matching services for investors and exporters, and open a long-term and stable green channel for Cambodian agricultural products to be exported to New Zealand.

In his concluding remarks, Governor Koh Tay emphasized that the core significance of promoting agricultural product exports and stable orders lies in building a sustainable market chain—this can not only enhance the international added value of Cambodian agricultural products, but also create stable income sources for farmers, effectively improve their livelihoods, and help the rural economy achieve inclusive growth. The successful signing of this Memorandum of Understanding marks a new development opportunity for Cambodia's rice industry in the Oceania market and provides an important platform for Cambodia and Singapore to further expand agricultural and multi-sectoral cooperation. It is expected to achieve the dual goals of industrial mutual benefit and improved livelihoods in the future. (End)
