Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Cambodian Ministry of Interior's General Department of Immigration issued an official statement disclosing the latest achievements in the country's recent crackdown on online fraud. On January 23, the Cambodian government repatriated 209 foreign nationals, including 73 South Korean citizens and 136 Myanmar citizens. All individuals have been handed over to their respective countries of origin for further legal processing.
The statement clarified that the 209 repatriated individuals included both suspects in online fraud and victims lured by illegal fraud rings. It is understood that this is not Cambodia's first large-scale repatriation operation involving fraud suspects. In just three weeks, from January 1 to 22, Cambodia repatriated a total of 1,620 foreign nationals from 21 countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, and China.
In a nationwide crackdown on online fraud conducted over the past seven months, Cambodian law enforcement authorities have achieved significant results: a total of 5,106 suspects from 23 countries have been arrested, and 4,534 individuals involved in the crimes have been repatriated. Cambodian courts have concluded 37 major cases of technology crime, imposing severe sentences on 172 ringleaders and key accomplices.

The Cambodian government reiterated in its statement that it is taking the strictest legal measures to eradicate online fraud and other illegal activities within its borders, effectively protecting the lives and property of people in the region and globally. Rescuing victims of fraud rings and ensuring their safe return home is one of the government's core tasks.
Next, an expert group composed of representatives from various Cambodian ministries, relevant agencies, and national law enforcement units will continue to deepen cooperation with international partners. Cambodia has clearly stated that it will adopt a "zero-tolerance" attitude towards the organizers of technology fraud rings, resolutely punishing those responsible according to law, showing no leniency, and firmly building a defense against online fraud.
