The two sides conducted in-depth and constructive exchanges on bilateral cooperation and international and regional issues of common concern, and unanimously pledged to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Ambassador Chun Soeun first expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the Cambodian government for Japan's long-term valuable support for Cambodia's national construction and social development. He reiterated Cambodia's unwavering commitment to advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and its dedication to implementing the "Cambodia-Japan Economic Cooperation Plan."
During the talks, Chun Soeun outlined the key areas of future cooperation: maintaining frequent high-level exchanges and enhancing strategic communication; expanding bilateral trade and attracting more Japanese investment to Cambodia; promoting interaction in the fields of youth, education, and culture to solidify public opinion; strengthening cooperation in infrastructure, healthcare, and digital transformation; and maintaining close coordination within multilateral frameworks to jointly address challenges.
During discussions on the regional and international situation, both sides agreed that maintaining close communication is crucial for safeguarding regional peace, stability, and sustainable development in the current complex and volatile international environment. Ambassador Chun Shunli highly praised Japan's constructive role in international and regional affairs and its contributions to Cambodia's economic diversification.
Furthermore, Ambassador Chun Shunli briefed the Japanese side on the latest developments in the Cambodia-Thailand border situation. He emphasized that Cambodia consistently pursues a peaceful foreign policy and advocates resolving border disputes peacefully through dialogue and consultation in accordance with international law, thereby maintaining harmonious coexistence in the surrounding region.
The Cambodian Embassy in Japan stated that this meeting once again demonstrated the deep friendship and strategic mutual trust between the two countries. Cambodia looks forward to continuing close cooperation with the Japanese government to translate the consensus reached in bilateral cooperation into tangible results, better benefiting the people of both countries.
