Cambodia's Ministry of Health launches border medical emergency strategy

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – To effectively address the potential medical and health challenges posed by the situation on the Cambodia-Thailand border, Minister of Health Chin Lak chaired a special meeting, instructing health agencies at all levels nationwide and health departments in border provinces to closely collaborate and comprehensively prepare for emergencies to ensure the health and safety of civilians and soldiers.

  During the meeting, Minister Chin Lak demanded the immediate restart and resolute implementation of the border medical and health response strategic plan. He emphasized the urgent need to ensure a timely and comprehensive assessment of the potential impact of the border situation on the health of local residents, and to develop targeted medical assistance and health support plans accordingly.

  Minister Chinla urged all participating departments to strengthen cooperation and enhance capabilities, establishing and strengthening collaborative mechanisms with all relevant institutions to significantly improve overall emergency response and inter-departmental coordination capabilities; to strengthen risk communication, ensuring real-time and clear risk communication to guarantee accurate and transparent information delivery; to stockpile supplies and build teams, effectively ensuring the reserve of key medical resources such as medicines, medical equipment, and blood, and accelerating the formation and deployment of professional medical expert teams; to ensure the self-protection of health personnel, requiring health workers to fully master self-protection skills in emergency situations to ensure their own safety; and to guarantee high-quality services, requiring medical institutions at all levels to continuously guarantee high-quality medical services, especially focusing on the health of pregnant women, infants, and children, while providing necessary mental health support services.

  Minister Chinla also expressed his sincere gratitude and praise to the national hospitals and expert teams that had already gone to the target provinces and were ready to provide support at any time.

  This important meeting was held in a hybrid online and offline format, with the Ministry of Health's State Secretary, Deputy State Secretary, Ministry of Health Advisors, heads of various General Departments, the Director of the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department, and heads of health units from various provinces participating.
