
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A report released by Cambodia's National Narcotics Control Agency shows that significant progress has been made in combating drug crimes during the first 10 months of this year.
The report indicates that in the first 10 months of this year, 8,391 drug-related cases were solved nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 21,800 suspects, including 742 foreign nationals. Of those arrested, 48% were involved in drug trafficking, manufacturing, possession, and transportation, while the remaining 52% were drug users.
The report shows that during this period, law enforcement seized 5.48 tons of drugs, 516 kilograms of dried cannabis, and 12,122 cannabis plants.
Cambodia maintains a high-pressure stance against drug crimes. Under Cambodian law, anyone convicted of trafficking more than 80 grams of illegal drugs can face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
