The Supreme People's Procuratorate of China has designated the case of the major liability accident involving fireworks

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On July 7th, it was learned from the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China that, in order to severely punish criminal offenses endangering production safety and protect the lives and property of the people, the Supreme People's Procuratorate has decided to supervise the handling of the major liability accident case involving fireworks explosions in Liuyang, Hunan Province.

  On May 4th, an explosion occurred in the workshop of Huasheng Fireworks Manufacturing and Display Co., Ltd. in Liuyang City, Hunan Province, resulting in 26 deaths and 61 injuries. On the same day, the Liuyang City Public Security Bureau initiated an investigation on suspicion of major liability accident, and subsequently criminally detained relevant responsible personnel from the company. The case is currently under further investigation.

  The Supreme People's Procuratorate requires the Hunan Provincial Procuratorate to fully perform its procuratorial functions, cooperate with public security organs and relevant departments, and investigate the cause of the accident, the facts of the case, and the serious consequences; to ascertain the illegal and irregular responsibilities of relevant personnel involved, and to severely punish those responsible for serious crimes according to law.

  A senior official from the Supreme People's Procuratorate stated that while severely cracking down on criminal offenses endangering production safety according to law, procuratorial organs should also focus on analyzing prominent issues related to production safety risk prevention exposed by these cases. They should collaborate with relevant departments to continuously implement the Supreme People's Procuratorate's "Procuratorial Suggestion No. 8," promoting the solidification of production safety responsibilities, advancing risk investigation and rectification in key industries and sectors, and effectively safeguarding the lives and property of the people and maintaining social stability.

  "Procuratorial Suggestion No. 8" refers to the procuratorial suggestion issued by the Supreme People's Procuratorate to the Ministry of Emergency Management in 2022 regarding the tracing and governance of production safety issues. (End)
