Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – At a recent press conference held by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cui Yongsheng, Director of the Scientific Research and Publicity Department of the Fitness Qigong Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport, introduced that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) health preservation exercises have been promoted to 67 countries and regions.

Ouyang Bo, Deputy Director of the Department of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine and Ethnic Minority Medicine of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, introduced that China has long developed a series of TCM health preservation exercises, such as Baduanjin, Yijinjing, and Wuqinxi. These exercises play an important role in strengthening the body and maintaining health by regulating Yin and Yang, clearing the meridians, and promoting the circulation of Qi and blood. TCM health preservation methods embody the TCM concept of holistic regulation of "form, Qi, and spirit," which is helpful for disease prevention and rehabilitation training, and also plays a positive role in chronic disease management, constitution conditioning, and daily health maintenance. As a health resource with Chinese characteristics, TCM health preservation methods have broad prospects for practical application and international promotion.

Cui Yongsheng stated that since its establishment in 2001, the Fitness Qigong Management Center of the State General Administration of Sport has actively and steadily promoted the continuous development of fitness qigong. In promoting Qigong exercises, the center organized experts to research, compile, and create 13 sets of Qigong exercises, compiled a series of textbooks, and produced a series of instructional videos, providing the public with important options for learning and practicing Qigong and improving their health.

"The widely circulated Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade) was created in 2003 based on our research and compilation of 64 traditional versions of Baduanjin, combined with contemporary characteristics," said Cui Yongsheng.

According to reports, the center has promoted the establishment of professional institutions and dedicated personnel in sports departments of 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps to promote Qigong exercises. It has also established 27 provincial associations, 812 prefecture- and county-level associations, built over 30,000 Qigong fitness sites, and trained over 230,000 social sports instructors, providing organizational support and a core teaching staff for the widespread learning and practice of Qigong exercises.

"We have promoted these exercises to 67 countries and regions, and organized a series of international exchange activities under the framework of mechanisms such as the Belt and Road Initiative and China-ASEAN," Cui Yongsheng said. He added that these exercises are gaining increasing international influence and playing a positive role in enhancing the international influence of Chinese culture.
