Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On November 6, 2025, the Hainan Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps organized a large-scale comprehensive water rescue drill in the Haitang Bay waters of Sanya City. The drill focused on a new three-in-one rescue system integrating underwater, surface, and aerial operations, comprehensively testing emergency rescue capabilities under complex sea conditions.
This drill revolved around ship collision accidents under extreme weather conditions, setting up three major practical scenarios: personnel rescue overboard, underwater search and rescue for capsized ships, and ship fire fighting. It included 16 practical subjects such as rapid motorboat rescue, helicopter rappelling, underwater confined space rescue, and boat firefighting, with more than 200 personnel from multiple departments including fire, maritime affairs, and coast guard participating.
The drill simulated a multi-ship emergency under extreme weather conditions: a fishing boat lost power due to a transmission system failure, drifted into another vessel's channel, and collided with a tourist boat whose visibility was obstructed in heavy rain. The accident caused damage to the fishing boat, resulting in water ingress, and a small repair boat capsized, with multiple people falling into the water, creating a very critical situation.

During the drill, the Hainan Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps dispatched multiple specialized water rescue teams to the scene. En route, a drone mounted on a command vehicle took off first to reconnoiter the accident area, transmitting real-time footage to provide crucial information for command and decision-making. Subsequently, four heavy-duty drones arrived at the accident area, accurately dropping lifebuoys to the area where the people in the water were concentrated, and using a specialized hoisting module to transfer the injured.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue personnel quickly launched operations. Powered rescue boats, motorboats, rubber boats, and fireboats advanced in a coordinated manner, comprehensively utilizing advanced equipment such as the "750" type high-speed motorboat, all-terrain support fire trucks, and underwater robots. They flexibly demonstrated professional techniques such as "O"-shaped rescue, live bait rescue, helicopter rappelling rescue, and boarding firefighting, successfully completing the search and rescue of those in the water and the extinguishing of the ship's fire.
The drill also included an equipment display area showcasing six types of fire trucks: command, rescue, firefighting, aerial ladder trucks, special-purpose vehicles, and support vehicles. It also featured five types of equipment: water rescue, firefighting, demolition, reconnaissance, and communication equipment, comprehensively demonstrating Hainan's achievements in professionalizing water rescue capabilities in recent years.
