Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Phnom Penh, Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen clarified on the evening of December 14th regarding the Cambodian government's announcement the previous day to close the Cambodian-Thailand border. He emphasized that the regulation only applies to land border crossings, and air transport remains operational.
Hun Sen explained on his personal Facebook account that due to the current tense situation along the entire land border and in some maritime areas between the two countries, airport operations are unaffected, and air travel continues as usual. He also pointed out that Thai citizens living in Cambodia can depart via flights from Phnom Penh or Siem Reap; those working near the Vietnamese border can first enter Vietnam and then transit through Vietnam to return to Thailand.
Furthermore, Cambodian citizens planning to return home must also choose air travel and enter through stations with direct flights. Previously, Cambodia announced the closure of all Cambodian-Thailand border crossings on the evening of December 13th, effective immediately until further notice.
According to the latest statistics from the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior, as the conflict on the Cambodian-Thai border enters its eighth day, the number of Cambodians forced to evacuate from the border area has risen to approximately 395,000. (End)
