  As previously reported, some Benin military personnel announced the removal of President Talon from office in a statement broadcast on the country's national television on the morning of the 7th local time. Some Benin military personnel, claiming to belong to the "Reconstruction Military Council," announced in the statement that the council held a meeting on the 7th and, after deliberation, decided to remove Talon from the presidency.

  Regarding the coup situation, the Benin presidential office subsequently told the media that President Talon is currently safe and the army is regaining control. "This is just a small group controlling the television station. The city and the whole country are safe."

  Benin is located in south-central West Africa, covering an area of ​​approximately 110,000 square kilometers and with a population of about 14 million.
