Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 21st Chinese Medical Team to Guyana recently visited the Long Creek Medical Center in Linden Highway Community, District 10, Guyana, launching a series of free clinics under the theme "Rainforest Protection, Health Together."
The free clinic was conducted in an orderly manner, attracting a large number of local residents for consultations and treatment. The medical team carefully set up consultation booths for various specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, traditional Chinese medicine, ophthalmology, and public health, providing comprehensive health checkups, disease consultations, health education, and preliminary medical services to community residents.
The team members won widespread praise from the local residents for their excellent medical skills and patient explanations. The unique traditional Chinese medicine services, in particular, attracted the curiosity and desire of many residents, becoming a highlight of the event.
This "Rainforest Protection, Health Together" free clinic coincided with the global focus on the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held recently in Brazil. One of the core topics of COP30 is the protection of the Amazon rainforest, an ecosystem crucial to global climate stability. Guyana, a South American country, boasts vast tropical rainforests and is a vital maintainer of regional and global ecological balance.
Li Huansong, head of the Chinese medical team, stated, "Through the 'Rainforest Protection, Health Together' campaign, we hope to convey the dual concern of the Chinese medical team—that it not only cares about the health of the Guyanese people but also about the natural environment upon which we depend for survival."
This event not only provided tangible health services to the local population but also raised awareness of the importance of environmental protection, particularly rainforest conservation, through thematic publicity, demonstrating China's firm commitment to fulfilling its international responsibilities and participating in global environmental governance and public health cooperation.
It is understood that the "Rainforest Protection, Health Together" series of free clinics will be carried out in other parts of Guyana. (End)
