Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 2nd Guangdong University Fashion Alliance and South China Agricultural University Fashion Week 2026 opened on the evening of December 12th at the South China Agricultural University Gymnasium. The fashion show, featuring original designs by 2026 graduates of the Fashion Design Department of the School of Art at South China Agricultural University and a runway presentation by students from the Performing Arts Department, incorporated themes of intangible cultural heritage such as Chinese painting and porcelain into clothing fabrics and fashion designs. A pet fashion show added a touch of cuteness and charm to the event.

It is understood that this special exhibition, themed "Texture and Vitality, Clothing Heals the Contemporary," presented 26 series of original design works. Based on rigorous academic research and pioneering design practice, students integrated styles from different dynasties and regions, offering a fashionable reinterpretation of traditional cultural themes such as the elegant Song Dynasty style of "Listening to the Ruan," the gold-threaded white space of Guangcai porcelain, the glaze and artistic conception of Longquan celadon, the totem genes of the Li ethnic group's Sai dialect, and the fusion of Chinese and Western styles in the Thirteen Factories export fans. This resulted in an aesthetic dialogue spanning millennia. In terms of production techniques, they introduced eco-friendly materials and processes such as red yeast rice microbial dyeing, water-ripple pleating textures, hand-weaving traces, and patchwork reconstruction of paddy field clothing, exploring the dynamic relationship between fabric, structure, and the body.

The fashion show choreography also featured a strong traditional Chinese style, based on the interdisciplinary collaboration of agriculture, engineering, and arts at the university, integrating local culture and sustainable concepts, and highly integrating light, music, and clothing language. More than 300 students majoring in performance from South China Agricultural University participated in the performance.

It is worth mentioning that the show also incorporated a heartwarming narrative of "human-pet coexistence" into the runway's flow. The pet costumes, also original designs by students from South China Agricultural University, featured dogs whose confident and adorable appearance drew admiring glances from the audience, while their playful antics brought smiles to everyone's faces.

It is reported that this fashion week will last for three days, with several universities including South China Agricultural University, South China University of Technology, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, Guangzhou University, and Guangdong Light Industry Vocational and Technical University holding special fashion shows. During the week, there will also be university-industry forums and graduate job fairs, building a platform for young designers in the fashion design field to exchange ideas with industry professionals and linking fashion education with industry practice.

Li Fengliang, Secretary of the Party Committee of South China Agricultural University, stated that this fashion week aims to showcase the innovative design achievements of emerging designers and industry practitioners, promoting the deep integration of the education chain, talent chain, and industry chain. The university is vigorously promoting interdisciplinary integration and has established a Modern Performing Arts Industry College. In response to the national strategy of building a culturally strong nation and serving the development of the performing arts industry in the Greater Bay Area, the college will strengthen interdisciplinary planning and coordination, deepen the reform of talent cultivation models, and use clothing as a medium and beauty as a bridge to connect traditional cultural heritage with modern spirit, working together with all sectors of society to draw a future blueprint for the fashion industry in the Greater Bay Area.
