Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Fifth Session of the 16th Fuzhou Municipal People's Congress opened in Fuzhou on the 20th. Fuzhou Mayor Wu Xiande, in his government work report, pointed out that in 2026, Fuzhou will focus on the integration of Fuzhou and Taiwan, accelerating its development as a pioneering city in the demonstration zone for cross-strait integrated development.

In 2025, Fuzhou released 20 measures, including the second batch of pilot policies for the Fuzhou-Matsu "Same City Living Circle" and the second batch of measures for the "Cross-Strait Youth Development City." Fuzhou saw 355 new Taiwanese-invested enterprises established throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of 26.3%, and the Fuzhou-Matsu Cross-Strait Industrial Fund completed its first project investment. The Fuzhou-Matsu Industrial Cooperation Park registered a total of 51 Matsu enterprises. The "Mini Three Links" port operated 2,286 voyages throughout the year, carrying over 98,000 passengers, a year-on-year increase of 51.2%... Fuzhou is promoting deeper and more practical cross-strait integration.

The government work report indicates that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Fuzhou will improve its policy and institutional system for integrated development, accelerate infrastructure connectivity, enhance the facilitation of personnel exchanges, trade, and investment between Fuzhou and Taiwan, expand cross-strait industrial cooperation and the construction of a cross-strait common market, and basically establish a pattern of integrated development across the entire region, with Fuzhou and Matsu taking the lead.

The government work report points out that by 2026, in strengthening grassroots social integration, Fuzhou will improve policies ensuring equal treatment for Taiwanese compatriots and youth, promote the equalization of basic public services such as medical care, housing, education, and social security; advance the construction of the Fuzhou-Matsu "same-city living circle," accelerate projects connecting the mainland side of water, electricity, gas, and bridges with Matsu, and improve the Fuzhou-Matsu "Mini Three Links" passenger route service platform.

In strengthening economic and trade industrial cooperation, Fuzhou will deepen the construction of a cross-strait common market, expand the scope and areas of pilot projects for cross-strait standardization, improve the recognition and credentialing system for Taiwanese professional qualifications, and relax market access restrictions for Taiwanese-invested enterprises.

Furthermore, it will strengthen cultural and emotional exchanges. Fuzhou encourages pairing and exchanges between primary and secondary schools in Fuzhou and Taiwan to develop distinctive youth sports programs such as baseball, softball, and rugby. It also aims to create a "Taiwanese Roots-Seeking" brand, organizing activities such as clan exchanges, ancestral worship, and genealogy matching, and supporting two-way exchanges of folk beliefs related to Zhang Shengjun, the Min King, and Chen Jinggu.
