According to the Plant Protection Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Animal and Plant Quarantine Bureau (APQA) of the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) has published regulations for the import of fresh Vietnamese pomelos into South Korea on its website.

Therefore, pomelos are the third type of fresh Vietnamese fruit, after dragon fruit and mangoes, to be approved for import into South Korea. The approval for Vietnamese pomelos to enter South Korea is an important step forward, providing a good opportunity for Vietnamese agricultural products to enter the international market, and also affirming the quality and reputation of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.

According to the Plant Protection Department, it launched a market opening plan for the export of Vietnamese pomelos to South Korea in 2018.

After two years of efforts, active information exchange, and multiple rounds of negotiations, the Plant Protection Department and the APQA of the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a bilateral meeting in April 2024 and reached an agreement on technical issues. Meanwhile, on July 18, 2024, the Plant Protection Department published a draft of phytosanitary and food safety requirements for fresh Vietnamese pomelos entering South Korea on its website.
