Southeast Asia Information Harbor (www.dnyxxg.com) – The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) announced that it will hold its 13th Annual Macroeconomic Conference this November, with the core theme of “Promoting Domestic Production and Sustainable Import Substitution.” The conference aims to address global economic uncertainties and promote domestic production as a core driver of Cambodia’s sustainable economic growth.

In a statement released Monday, NBC noted that Cambodia currently faces multiple challenges in promoting domestic production, requiring collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to explore solutions. This conference will bring together policymakers, economists, and private sector leaders to exchange new perspectives and build strategic consensus, helping domestic production become a “powerful engine” against global economic fluctuations. The statement emphasized that expanding domestic production and substituting imports with locally produced raw materials will not only effectively create jobs but also directly increase people’s income levels, strengthening the endogenous driving force of economic development.

The National Bank of Cambodia affirmed the government’s series of measures prioritizing domestic production, including entrepreneurship training for SMEs and female entrepreneurs, reforms to business registration processes, modernization of technology systems, and the implementation of various investment incentive policies. Currently, the government and the private sector are deepening their collaboration, focusing on three core objectives: improving the quality of domestically produced products, reducing import dependence, and enhancing market competitiveness, steadily promoting economic restructuring.

Prime Minister Hun Manet recently emphasized that Cambodia needs to balance export dependence with the improvement of domestic production capacity, urging enterprises to actively build local production chain cooperation networks, especially increasing their independent investment in the supply of raw materials for export industries. Against the backdrop of a complex and volatile global economic situation, strengthening independent production capacity has become a key strategic choice for Cambodia to achieve long-term development.

It is understood that the 13th Macroeconomic Conference will provide a high-level dialogue platform for all parties to jointly discuss and propose practical suggestions, helping Cambodia build a solid foundation for domestic production and injecting continuous momentum into achieving its long-term development vision for 2030 and 2050.
