Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on February 6th showed that the global manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 51.2% in February, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that the global manufacturing sector continued to expand, with a slight increase in activity compared to the previous month.
Regionally, the European manufacturing PMI was 50.6%, up 0.6 percentage points from the previous month, marking the second consecutive month of increase and the first time it has risen above 50% since August 2022. The European manufacturing sector continued its upward trend and entered expansion territory, showing a sustained recovery momentum. During the same period, the African manufacturing PMI was 48.2%, down 1.4 percentage points from the previous month. The African manufacturing sector continued its downward trend from the previous month, with a slightly larger decline, indicating that the African manufacturing sector is under short-term pressure, and its stability still needs to be improved.
In February, Asia's manufacturing PMI was 51.4%, up 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, remaining at 51% or above for the third consecutive month, indicating a steady upward trend in Asia's manufacturing sector. During the same period, the Americas' manufacturing PMI was 51.7%, a slight decrease from the previous month, but still within the expansionary range.
Analysts believe that the data from the first two months of this year shows signs of a positive shift in the global manufacturing recovery at the beginning of 2026. However, the recent surge in geopolitical risks in the Middle East has brought uncertainty to the nascent global economic recovery. The longer the geopolitical conflict persists, the greater the uncertainty in oil supply, the more difficult the supply chain repair, the more pronounced the decline in trade efficiency, and the more profound the impact on the global economic recovery.
