Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to a report from the Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, a fault occurred in the AAE1 submarine optical cable. Thanks to the support of backup communication infrastructure and the Vietnam-Singapore Land Cable Network (VSTN), the overall operation of Vietnam's internet remained stable.

The fault occurred during the Lunar New Year period (1656), resulting in a loss of approximately 45,000 Gbps of international internet connection capacity, representing nearly 10% of Vietnam's total international internet connection capacity. An assessment determined that this capacity reduction did not cause an imbalance between international bandwidth supply and demand in Vietnam.

Following the fault, Vietnamese network operators immediately activated their emergency plans, redirecting network traffic to other optical cable lines and alternative connection channels. Domestic operators simultaneously and efficiently coordinated with international partners to handle the situation, and no localized network outages occurred throughout the process.

Operational data from various operators show that network operations are stable and orderly: FPT Telecom's total international bandwidth during peak hours remains within safe redundancy limits; MobiFone's average international channel load increased from 56% before the fault to 64.2%, still within safe thresholds; Viettel and VNPT both confirmed that their international connection capacity has been fully upgraded and backed up, and the capacity loss caused by the AAE1 fault has minimal impact on overall line capacity.

The Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam stated that Vietnam's international internet connectivity infrastructure has been continuously improved in recent years. Domestic users mainly connect to the international internet through three paths: submarine optical cables, terrestrial optical cables, and satellite internet, with submarine optical cables being the core carrier.

Currently, Vietnam has six submarine optical cables in operation: AAG, IA, AAE1, APG, ADC, and SJC2. ADC and SJC2 are newly put into operation, effectively improving Vietnam's international internet bandwidth capacity. (End)
